I am very proud to announce that the jazz musical “My Friend Lester” about the relationship between Billie Holiday and Lester Young will be coming to The Jermyn Street Theatre, London June 11 and The Merlin Theatre in Frome June 16. The play is written by Maria McAteer and she plays the part of Billie Holiday and I play Lester Young. We also have the incredible musicians John Donaldson on piano and Simon Thorpe on double bass.

My Friend Lester at Brighton Fringe 2015
I am very excited to announce that My Friend Lester will return in May. This year at a new venue, The Rialto, and with a live band. Check out performance dates at My Friend Lester’s web site.
Moulettes album launch in London
I am very happy to announce that I will be playing bass clarinet with the Moulettes on their launch of their new album at Islington Assembly Hall 30th November. I’m on a couple of tracks on the recording and I have to say, the music sounds amazing. If you haven’t heard the Moulettes yet the best way I can describe them is epic folk with violin, cello, bassoon, drums double bass and gorgeous vocals. The new album is even more orchestral than the older ones (they are all fantastic!) and that’s where I and a few others come in. They are currently on tour across the UK but this one in London will be spectacular. Check out the FaceBook event
Two gigs in Brighton this weekend!
Both are with the formidable guitarist Paul Richards but are slightly different in setting, style and timing. Saturday 16th we will be playing a duo gig at Little Portugal from 8pm. Choro, samba and jazz with acoustic guitar and clarinet.
Sunday 17th I will be playing with Paul again but this time I add the formidable Dan Rehahn on trombone and bassist extraordinaire Simon Russell for a swing gig at Seven Stars 4-7pm. If we are lucky the 90-year old jazz superstar Renee Ansell will join us for a sound that surpasses time.
Hope to see you there!
Israel Tour with Nybakat!
It’s time to play some jazz again! My beloved jazz quartet “Nybakat!” are doing a tour in Israel after a little warm up gig in Café Mazarin in Bro, Sweden. We have been invited by the festival Jazz Globus in Jerusalem and has tagged on a little tour with gigs in Tel Aviv and Mitzpe Ramon as well. Have a look at the clip below from a concert we did in Sweden Summer 2011.
Björn Dahlberg Quartet at the Brighton Blue Note
I’m super excited! Tonight I will be playing all my saxophones and clarinets at the Brighton Blue Note together with Paul Richards – Guitar, Jim Whyte – drums and Terry Pack – bass. Since I moved to the UK I haven’t really found an outlet for this material. The jazz I play have mostly been swing with the Magic Numbers and others and standards at the jam sessions. I love doing that and it’s been great exploring the earlier styles but to be able to play some of my own favourite compositions will be something extra. We will play several tunes from my old project Boogaloo B – A Technicolor soundtrack of twist and New Orleans funk and more. It’s 11pm-1am (jazz hours!) underneath the Greenhouse effect, 63 Church Rd, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 2BD.
Read more about it at Paul Richard’s site You can hear some of the music at my old MySpace site
Fantastiska recensioner av ABBA the Show
ABBA the show on Google Earth
I have put together a Google Earth file with all the arenas we play on at the UK tour we are doing with ABBA the Show. We have already done the first two, Newcastle and Sheffield. Check it out if you like!
